Work at Home Virtual Assisting For SuperHuman

SuperHuman is a newer company that I first learned about earlier in the summer. They hire virtual assistants to work at home and add, edit, and delete events from their customers’ schedules. They call this “calendaring” because basically you are just updating the virtual calendars for their clients.
As you might have guessed this is another non-phone position, and it also appears to be open to US only at this time.

How much does SuperHuman pay?

SuperHuman pays $10 an hour. Your training is paid, too. Unless something has changed recently, your pay will come via oDesk since this is how the company was initially recruiting workers. So you may have to set up an oDesk account if you’re hired. One thing to keep in mind about oDesk pay is that it’s usually pending for several days (like up to a week I think) before it’s released once you receive it, but once the money shows as available in your account, you can immediately transfer it to Paypal or to your bank account.

Who is qualified?

Here are the qualifications listed, taken from their job posting at Craigslist:
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills; preferably with a personable, fun, unique tone through e-mail and IM chat
  • Pay extremely close attention to detail, and take pride in going “above and beyond”
  • Are a “team player” and are interested in contributing to building something awesome
  • Constantly strive for self-improvement and are able to receive and incorporate constructive feedback
So as you can see, you don’t need a college education or anything like that, although you probably do need to be fairly tech-savvy and a fast learner. I’ve read that SuperHuman puts you through a sort of “trial” period of about five working shifts after you are hired. If you don’t learn their system by then, they may not keep you. Keep in mind you will have to agree to a background check before being hired.

What equipment is needed?

All you need is your computer and a high speed internet connection. As stated above, this is a non-phone job so you won’t be on the phone at all.

How long does training last?

Your paid training takes place in one day, for about two hours.

How is the schedule?

You do the work in shifts. Each shift is about four hours long and you can be scheduled anytime from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. You let SuperHuman know ahead of time what your availability is and they schedule you around that. I don’t know for sure if this could be a full-time position, but it might be possible to get in 15-20 hours per week.

What is the feedback so far?

I’ve been reading on the forums that this is a paying company. There have been a few people who were bitter because they were let go after just a few days of doing the job, but as stated above I did read that there’s a five shift evaluation period and if you don’t learn the job after working five shifts, they might not keep you. Many people say that this job isn’t as easy as it sounds and there is a definite learning curve, so keep that in mind.
Apparently a lot of people who have applied have also gotten rejection emails. This isn’t very surprising because it’s a new company and lots of times new companies are not hiring hundreds and hundreds of workers because their client base might not be that large yet. I would recommend applying if this interests you because it can’t hurt for them to have your app on file. And who knows, you may get in. If you get a rejection email, you can always just try again at another time.

How can you apply?

You can apply following the instructions on the Jobs page of the SuperHuman/SuperCalendar website, or you can follow the instructions on the Craigslist job posting.
Remember that because this is a non-phone job, I have no doubt the company will be slammed with applicants since those kinds of jobs are so sought after. So don’t be too let down if you aren’t offered the position because there will probably be lots of competition for it. Good luck!
