Work From Home Bookkeeping at Balance Your Books

Balance Your Books is a company that I often see with job postings for work from home bookkeepers. I have had a few people ask me about work from home bookkeeping positions, and actually there are quite a few opportunities out there. But today’s overview is just going to focus on Balance Your Books. The company is based out of New Jersey, but they have clients nationwide. According to their BBB listing, the company has been in business since 1999.
This opportunity is for US residents only.

About the Job

Home-based bookkeepers for Balance Your Books provide A/P, A/R, payroll, and general support for clients. The job posting states that you need good verbal and written communication skills, so this job will most definitely require that you use the phone at least part of the time. The job posting also states that you’ll need to be able to prioritize multiple client’s needs, so this means you’ll likely be doing bookkeeping for more than one client at a time. All work is done from your home computer — it does not appear that you have to be local to any specific area in the US.
All Balance Your Books bookkeepers are managed by CPA’s for Balance Your Books. The CPA’s also work from home, but this is a job that requires much more experience.

Requirements

Here are the qualifications needed to be considered as a bookkeeper for Balance Your Books, taken directly from the website:
  • AA degree or equivalent experience
  • 2 or more years of bookkeeping experience
  • Experience providing data entry, AP, and payroll functions
  • Knowledge of QuickBooks, MYOB, Peachtree, or other accounting software

Pay

The job posting says that they offer a “competitive” salary. Unfortunately, I can’t really confirm this because information on pay with this company appears to be under lock and key! I’ve done multiple Google searches and pretty much nothing comes up.

Feedback

And again, pretty much no info here. The company is mentioned several times on the WAHM forum, but only as a work from home job lead providing just the basic information listed on the website (which is just about all I can give you here too, unfortunately). There are a few people who mentioned that they sent their resumes but never heard anything back from the company.
My guess is that since they offer work from home jobs, they probably get a ton of resumes and just don’t respond to the people they aren’t interested in hiring. Also, it’s likely they don’t need a ton of workers.

To Apply

If you have the qualifications required and would like to try your luck, you can find all the information about applying here. If you happen to hear back from Balance Your Books, please do comment below and let everyone know about your experience.
